Mt. Sylvan Youth is a community of 6th through 12th grade students from various schools around Durham. We love, serve, and give so that the world is made right. Our students meet regularly for retreats, Bible study, & mission and service projects. Our group is open and welcoming to students from around the community.
Mt. Sylvan Youth meets every Sunday during the school year from 6-8 PM. It’s available to all of our middle school and high school students. We start out the evening with a meal provided by one of our church volunteers in the fellowship hall. We then get moving with a game either outside or in the fellowship hall.
After that, we go upstairs to the youth room for worship, a brief message, and small groups by grade. It’s an awesome way to cap off a weekend, and to get your school week started.

Every Sunday morning from 9:45-10:45 in the youth room, our middle school and high school learn about important topics of the Bible. It’s a great way to be connected with the rest of the church, as all of our adult and children’s Sunday school classes happen during this time as well.

Our students value The Great Commission(Matthew 28:19-20) and their commitments to our community and the world. We partner with the church to help with Urban Ministries of Durham (Lunch every 4th Sunday), Families Moving Forward, Stop Hunger Now, and our summer mission trip to Nashville with Student Living a Mission(SLAM).

Mt. Sylvan Youth has an active and vibrant presence on social media. It's often the quickest way to learn about youth news, and to see pictures from our events.

Throughout the school year, we offer chances for our students to take some time away from the pressures of their daily lives. Sometimes, it's a quick night out to a haunted forest, or even a full weekend away at Pilgrimage or Lake Junaluska in the summer!
Students are able to pay for events through cash, check, credit/debit card, or through use of Pumpkin Patch credits earned by working at the Pumpkin Patch every September/October.
Please check back for registrations periodically.
