Health & Wellness Ministry

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you were bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body. - 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

As a branch of Mt. Sylvan's Congregational Care Team Mt. Sylvan sets out to heal bodies as well as hearts through our new Health & Wellness ministry.

  • Sole to Soul Fitness Class! - Mondays at 9:30am

    Sara Neal, certified personal trainer and weight management consultant, leads a fitness class in the Mt. Sylvan’s Fellowship Hall. This class is a perfect complement to Mt. Sylvan’s Thursday Morning Class (described below). It focuses on building strength, balance, and flexibility. Resistance bands and other needed equipment will be provided, but participants will need a full-size towel and water bottle. Class is every Monday at 9:30 am and the cost is FREE! 

    This group also participates in service projects (purely optional) and collects items for ministry projects.

  • Fitness Class w/ Line dancing - Thursdays at 9:00am

    "I've been meaning to find a class!" "I know I should be exercising!" "I'm not sure I can keep up." - If you'd had any of these sentiments, now is a good time. Every Thursday at 9:00 am in Mt. Sylvan’s Fellowship Hall move at your own pace to fun music, do easy line dancing, tone up those arms and shoulders, stretch and breathe, and care for that temple that God gave each of us. (Cor. 6:19) If you can walk, you can do this!

    Participants are encouraged to bring their own water bottle, towel, and light hand weights. Join us, and bring a friend! For more information, contact Mary Beth Cecil, 919.730.2841. Classes are held every Thursday and the cost FREE!

  • Health Screenings

    Our Health & Wellness team provides blood pressure and blood sugar testing on a monthly basis to seniors in the church and anyone else who may be in an at-risk demographic.  Screenings are held the first Sunday of every month in our Preschool Cafeteria at 9:30am.
